Bullet Journal Pages 132-133

Not a lot of art time over the holidays but I have been doing my lists. It's the way I stay organized and find time to squeeze in a little creativity each day.

It just wouldn't be Christmas without this quote from Buddy, the Elf, right?

Bullet Journal Pages 128-129

A little bit of everything on these pages. I even pulled out my Belly Roller pens to add color to my warmly dressed girl.

Santa Paintings for My Seesters

I designed this Santa years ago and have been meaning to paint him for my sisters forever. This year I finally got it done and I'm excited about how they turned out!

Both are 12" x 16" acrylic on wrapped canvas.

Bullet Journal Pages 122-123 COMPLETED

I worked on these pages all through November...

And here's the completed page. I LOVE how it turned out. Aren't Fall colors the best????

Bullet Journal Pages 126-127

This is my version of a mind map and one of my favorite ways to journal and record memories.

Bullet Journal Pages 124-125

I got an urge to draw people with glasses and I went for it. I like to sometimes fill in the negative space this way--with striped sections. I think it gives things a fun graphic feel.

Prismacolor Colored Pencils Pencil Case

I've been using Prismacolor Colored Pencils since I was introduced to them by a beloved art teacher in high school. I LOVE them!! A bit about them: they are pricey--but worth saving up for. Our teacher advised us to ask for them for Christmas that year and that's what I did. And SEVERAL(!) years later, I bet I've still got a few from that set in my collection. I've since bought several more sets over the years, but they do last a good long time. Prismacolor Colored Pencils are very soft and waxy and they blend like a dream! The colors are vibrant and gorgeous.

I've stored my pencils in the boxes/tins they come in. I've stored them in tin cans. I've stored them in pouches. But nothing really worked for me. Until...

Someone on Instagram posted a picture of a 124 capacity pencil case. 124! I found them on AMAZON and ordered two thinking I'd use one for my Prismas and one for other pencils. Uh, wrong. I needed them both for my Prismas. Had a few more than I thought.
I arranged them by color and tied ribbons to the zipper pulls that tell me which colors are housed in each section. (Each zipper opens to reveal a section that holds 44 pencils, with one of the sections holding a few less to make room for a sharpener if desired).
I find that I use my Prismas more and am able to better see the colors all laid out and in order like this!

Bullet Journal Pages 122-123

These are the pages I'll be working on this month. I spend a lovely evening drawing the leaves and I'll color them throughout the month using my trusty Prismacolor Colored Pencils.

Bullet Journal Pages 120-121

Absolutely no cohesive theme to these days. Some weeks I just draw/write whatever feels right on that particular day. Other weeks, I like to have a theme.

Bullet Journal Pages 118-119

More lettering and less sketching on these pages. It differs from week to week.

Sunday, October 30, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 116-117

No rhyme or reason here. Just chaos. But I like it that way. (The bottom right is a quote from Glennon Doyle Melton.)

Bullet Journal Pages 114-115

Decided to dedicate a banner to my thoughts on the election right now. Enough already! I was back to drawing cupcakes and flowers by Thursday and Friday.

Saturday, October 15, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 112-113

I had Fall leaves on my mind this week. Isn't Fall the best?

Saturday, October 8, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 110-111

These pages are kind of all over the place. Some weeks are like that.

Bullet Journal Pages 106-107

The larger block letters were definitely easier. Good tip from an admired Instagram friend. More Fall goodness on these pages.

Bullet Journal Pages 96-97

These pages were my Drawing Challenge pages for September. I called it "I Draw Houses" and I added a new house each day of the month. Here are the weekly progress pictures.

And here is the finished page. I'm pretty sure there's not a blank space on the page anywhere. Which house would you want to live in?
My Drawing Challenge for October?? Halloween Doodles, of course!

Bullet Journal Pages 104-105

Just Fall colors on these pages. It's still hot here but a girl can dream!

Thursday, September 22, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 102-103

I'm playing around here with a new pen. It's a Zig Writer in Platinum and it's PERFECT for shadows on letters!!

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 100-101

On the left page I was trying to work on some block lettering which I ended up just filling in because block lettering is not my strong suit. But I got some good advice from a friend to do the letters larger--makes it easier. I'll give that a try.

Bullet Journal Pages 98-99

How many types of lettering are on this page??? Too many to count. Some weeks are like that--a bit scattered and crazy.

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 94-95

It's no secret that I love Fall. Decided to do some Fall-themed lettering on these pages.

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 90-91

I was working on some simplified faces on this page. No matter what, I always return to drawing people.

Bullet Journal Pages 78-79 - My August Challenge COMPLETED, and my new September Challenge

I worked on this page all through August and now it's complete. I was getting a bit desperate at the end (i.e.; Idaho). :)  Seems I need to plan some trips. I'm craving some new adventure.

For my September Challenge I'm going to draw a house a day on this page until I have a very funky neighborhood.

Bullet Journal Pages 92-93

I like that the end of the month is a time for me to do some layouts for the upcoming month. Decided to dedicate a page to Ohio State Football and the facing page is my usual monthly Health Tracker. I like pages like this that I come back to over and over during the month. I also like that the Leuchtturm1917 notebook has 2 ribbon bookmarks so I can put one on my Health Tracker (since I mark on it every day) and the other on the page I'm on with my daily To Do lists.

Bullet Journal Pages 88-89

Some art days are better than others. I like the banners I learned from Peggy of thepigeonletters.com's banner class on Skillshare. I like the Monday lettering. I like the 3 little judgmental faces on Tuesday...and then there's the Thursday face. It wasn't working so I tried to fix it, then I wrote what wasn't working on it, and now it's just a messy mess. Oh well, you win some. You lose some.

Bullet Journal Pages 86-87

That Wednesday face was cute...and then I added too much shading and now she's kinda sad. My bad. Sometimes I don't know when to quit.

Bullet Journal Pages 84-85

I'm not thrilled with any aspect of these pages but my goal is to post every page so as to have a full record here on the blog. I guess that's all I can say... :)

Bullet Journal Pages 82-83

Lots of things to celebrate on these pages - my sweet niece turning 8, the Olympics starting, and my husband and I celebrating our 20th anniversary.

I used my daughter's Monster Gel Pens for a lot of the lettering on these pages. They write like butter--seriously! So smooth. But they are water soluble and do smear, so be warned.

Bullet Journal Pages 80-81

I seem to have flowers on my mind this week. I kept these pages black and white with just a touch of metallic silver here and there.

Monday, August 1, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 76-77

My health tracker for August and some motivational quotes to...well, motivate me.

Bullet Journal Pages 74-75

A crazy journaling page.

Bullet Journal Pages 72-73

I've decided to do either a lettering or doodling challenge for myself each month. And I wanted a place to keep track of ideas for those challenges.

Bullet Journal Pages 70-71

Some pages end up really graphic and typographic. And some, like these, end up more illustrative. For these pages, it started with the little dog doodle and then went from there.

Bullet Journal Pages 60-61 COMPLETED And the Next Challenge Begins

I've been working on these pages all month and they're finally complete. What a fun challenge.

For August, I decided to do a lettering challenge. Each day I'll write a different place I've been or travelled to. So at the end of the month I should have a page full of lettering and also a bit of my own personal history on the page.

A Face a Day in July Challenge - Week 4

Just a couple more faces and this page will be complete. I'm trying to decide what my drawing/lettering challenge will be for August. Any suggestions?

Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Bullet Journal Pages 68-69

Some pages I like lots of illustrations and doodles and some pages I like to keep more graphic and clean. The page on the right was a quote someone asked me to write out for them. But I really didn't like this version and even thought about tearing the page out. But I decided that I don't want to ever tear a page out or glue something over it in my Bullet Journal so I just have to make due and fix what's there. So I just wrote notes with a fine tip pen all over the page and I kind of like the end result.
