Newest Painting - Constance

This little gal is based on a sketch I did years ago. I've wanted to put her on canvas for a while...and here she is. I kind of love her sweet shyness.

This painting is 10" x 10" on a gallery wrapped canvas. She's available in MY ETSY SHOP now.

Bullet Journal Pages 214-215

I haven't been sketching and doodling as much in my Bullet Journal because I've been doing more of that in my sketchbook in preparation for new paintings. Stay tuned for those. But I do always find time for lettering.

Bullet Journal Pages 210-211

This week's To Do List. I kind of revisited an older GO TO lettering style (there's a quick tutorial on it here) and added different flourishes to each day.

Summer - The Process

Here are my WIP pics of this painting...

It all starts with a sketch
The drawing with chalk on a black gessoed wood cradleboard
First coat of paint on the background
 First coat on the face
This is always the step where I doubt the painting is going to "work". I call this the "Ugly Phase".
You can see that the face has one coat except for that right eye--the second coat makes a huge difference.
Almost done. She just needs a few accents and the chalk to be wiped off.
Almost done. I will add a few more accents after this.
And the finished painting!

Bullet Journal Pages 208-209

Still playing with the brush pens. I have a love/hate relationship with cursive. Anyone else? I'd love to get better at it but I find myself always going back to print.

Newest Painting - Summer

I've been in a bit of a painting slump lately. But just recently I've felt the creative energy flowing again. This painting was hard to put in the mail. That's how I know I really like it! I wanted her to hang around my house a bit longer. But she is a gift for my niece so she had to get on her way.
This was my inspiration pic. This little cutie just turned 2 and she's the youngest of 4 but she is IN CHARGE so in the painting I gave her a crown. She's also the sweetest little angel pie you'll ever meet so I gave her wings.
Here she is with her painting. This picture makes my heart so, so happy!

Bullet Journal Pages 202-203

Decided to use some color theory on my daily To Do Lists this time. Cool colors, warm colors, primary colors, secondary colors, and some monochromatic colors to finish out the week.

Bullet Journal Pages 196-197

Lots of color this week. On the right page, I just drew some lines, swirls, and circles with a black Papermate Flair pen and colored in the spaces with Prismacolor Color Pencils. The perfect way to relax and let your mind wander.

Bullet Journal Pages 192-195 - Warning: Some explicit language

I've had a bunch of quotes screenshotted on my phone and decided to get the on paper so I could delete them off my phone. Two pages of lots of words--mostly about women and power...and a few f-bombs. :)

Bullet Journal Pages 188-189

A whole lotta stuff going on on these pages. Working on several lettering styles and a very quick Journalling about a great concert.

Bullet Journal Pages 186-187

A quote I'm digging right now and another of my crazy brain dump trip journaling/re-cap pages. Not sure I'm sold on the sideways orientation of that re-cap...not that there's anything I can do about it now.

Bullet Journal Pages 184-185

I'm a little bit behind in my Bullet Journal. I'll be doing some catch up today. I have a couple trip journal pages to do. Stay tuned for those. The days of the week on the left page were written with Papermate Flairs. I love how they write and I love all the fun colors they come in now!!

Bullet Journal Pages 182-183

Haven't had a lot of art time lately, but I do make sure I do a little lettering every day.

Quote People - Sarah

So even without any sort of world summit or discussion, we, as adults, all know when we tell a kid "5 more minutes", we actually mean "I'm going to talk to my friend for like 30 more minutes because you can't tell time". Am I right?

My friend Sarah came over the other night and we must have told her little cutie Patrick "5 more minutes" at least 7 times. (At one point I think he even said, "Mom, isn't it like, my bedtime or something?!?")

Bullet Journal Pages 180-181

Again, I never expect anyone besides myself to be able to make sense of my crazy trip journaling pages. But it's my favorite way to write down memories and specific things we did and places we went. I start with the biggest lettering and end by filling in any blank space with tiny lettering until I feel like I've recorded all I can and filled the page.

This may be the more color I've ever added to one of these journaling pages. I think it adds a fun element!

Saturday, May 20, 2017

Bullet Journal Pages 170-171

I was trying several different lettering styles on these pages so it's a bit of a chaotic mess. (Really not sure what I was thinking with all that yellow on Friday. Ugh!!) But it's the last few weeks of school so life is a bit of a chaotic mess right now so it's all good!

It seems I have settled on this lettering style lately. Though it my favorite right now, I do need to branch out.

Bullet Journal Pages 167 WIP - A Face a Day In May

I'll be adding 30 more faces to this page this month. It's gonna get crowded up in here. I did A Face a Day last July and I've done other Mays full of faces. So I'm excited to do it again. Plus I never need an excuse to draw faces!

Bullet Journal Pages 164-165

Clearly I was excited that it was Friday! I'm starting my May Health Tracker on the right page.
